An approach to Color Gradient Vector Argument considering Data Uncertainty

چکیده
Despite their shortcomings, gradient and second derivative operators remain popular as edge detectors because human beings usually do not show strong directional preferences when detecting edges or boundaries. However, in a colour image an edge can be given not only if the respective brightness values of two neighbouring pixels are significantly different, but also if their chromatic components are significantly different, even though their brightness values are very similar. So, it is important to consider changes in colour between neighbouring pixels for getting efficient colour-edge extraction algorithms. Unlike the gradient vector magnitude, the gradient vector argument has not been approximated. It has been in part due to the three dimensions used for defining colour feature. In this paper we present an approach to colour gradient vector argument approximation that considers the reliability indicators of the Smith’s Hue and Saturation components introduced in [13] for taking into account colour vagueness and variability problems on a HSI space

On the Reliability of the Color Gradient Vector Argument Approach
Today many algorithms for monochrome images have been developed based on the information provided by the gradient vector. However, these algorithms can not be applied to color images without an accurate approximation of the color gradient vector argument. Moreover, there is a great number of applications that require to know with the maximum accuracy as possible the direction of the color varia...
متن کاملDetermining Effective Features for Face Detection Using a Hybrid Feature Approach
Detecting faces in cluttered backgrounds and real world has remained as an unsolved problem yet. In this paper, by using composition of some kind of independent features and one of the most common appearance based approaches, and multilayered perceptron (MLP) neural networks, not only some questions have been answered, but also the designed system achieved better performance rather than the pre...
متن کاملINPAINTING THE COLORS By Guillermo Sapiro IMA
A framework for automatic image colorization, the art of adding color to a monochrome image or movie, is presented in this paper. The approach is based on considering the geometry and structure of the monochrome luminance input, given by its gradient information, as representing the geometry and structure of the whole colored version. The color is then obtained by solving a partial differential...
متن کاملAssessment of Green Supplier Development Programs by a New Group Decision-Making Model Considering Possibilistic Statistical Uncertainty
The assessment and selection of green supplier development programs are an intriguing and functional research subject. This paper proposes a group decision-making approach considering possibilistic statistical concepts under uncertainty to assess green supplier development programs (GSDPs) via interval-valued fuzzy sets (IVFSs). Possibility theory is employed to regard uncertainty by IVFSs. A n...

In this paper, a new strategy based on a dynamic (time-based) model is proposed for expansion planning of electrical energy distribution systems, taking into account distributed generation resources and advantage of the techno-economic approach. In addition to optimal placement and capacity, the proposed model is able to determine the timing of installation / reinforcement of expansion options....
